Principal's Message

Hello/ Salut Families of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School,

Over the summer, I had time to reflect upon what parents want to know about my philosophy and this upcoming year. First, I want you to know that I care about your child. She or he is not a number. She or he is not a “seat-filler.” She or he is a person, and each child will be treated as such. I will strive diligently to get to know her or him as a individual person, so I may best help her or him as an individual learner. I believe all the students in the school come to me at different places socially, emotionally, and academically, and the staff will meet them wherever they are and journey forth into learning experiences for the year. As well, I want you to know that I encourage and value your role as a partner. I have long felt that by the time students reach high school, as a system, we tend to place parents at arm’s length. I think this is unfortunate. I believe that optimal learning requires a shared responsibility among teachers, parents, and students. We need to partner in this, and so with that I offer you an open invitation to contact me should the need arise. Please know that communication between us is important. Communication is a must. If there is ever anything that you wish to address with me, please do so and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Moreover, I want you to know my approach to life and teaching: Do. Reflect. Do Better. Thirty years plus into this crazy world of education does not make me have all the answers, but I will try to get them for you. Essentially what I am seeking out of each day is to do better all the time. This year is no different. I will make mistakes, and somethings may fail, but I expect and accept that because I know I will learn from it every time. Lastly, I am keenly aware of the trust that you place in me and my staff  for your child’s care and education when she or he crosses the threshold of the school. We all take our role in your child’s school life very seriously. We will do our best to ensure they reach their fullest potential as the HWCDSB’s mission statement indicates.

Thank you et merci,

Mrs. (Mme) D. Fraser
